Bob's Story
What a nerve wrecking day this was for me. By this time, I had spoken with my parents and closest friends in search of guidance along with the copious amounts of prayer taking place. Not to mention, buying the ring was quite the adventure with some unnecessary stress thrown in. I had also asked her parents for their permission, to which they said yes! Today was the day... April 20th. It had a ring to it (no pun intended). However, the execution of my plan was far more difficult than I had expected. I had to convince Leslie to meet me in Downtown Plymouth. I had told her that I needed to have my guitar fixed (one of two lies I will ever tell her). She said she would meet me at the guitar shop.... but I didn't want to meet at the shop! I wanted to meet downtown by the fountain! Once we met, I told her that I forgot a tool in my car to have the pickup removed from my guitar (the second and last lie I will ever tell her). Finally, she was forced to walk with me through downtown. Now, for the good part... The bench was open, and the time was right. I sat down, opened my case, began to play a song, and told her that she might want to sit down. To this day, only one girl has heard me play this song, and she will be the only one to ever hear it. I dropped to my knee, I opened the box, and I said, "... I am speechless." There were no words to express just how deeply I loved her, and how all I wanted was to love her in the same way that Christ has loved me. This time, she didn't bother saying she was interested.
She said yes.

She said yes.

Leslie's Story
What a day. Okay, so I KNEW the engagement was coming--I just didn't know when! I was kind of expecting it today because he would make subtle hints in the week or so prior. When he called me, I didn't even hear him say, "Meet me in downtown." So I said okay I'll meet you at the guitar shop! ...I was throwing off plans without even realizing it. So he met me at the guitar shop and realized he "left a special wrench thing in his car". I was getting a little suspicious now... So I offer to drive him to his car, but he says we should walk because it's nice out! It's not nice out. My coat was in the washing machine at home and it was freezing! But I go along with it. We're walking toward the fountain in downtown Plymouth and he pauses and sits on a bench. He pulls out his guitar and starts playing. When he says, "I think you should sit down", I knew what he was up to, then! He played and sang a beautiful song and got down on one knee. He opens a box with the most perfect ring inside and asked the question! Yes, I WAS interested, but I think he knew that -- so I just said yes. :)
