Bob's Story
Such a great trip that ended on a not-so-great note. This was our first long drive together, and it was so much to just listen to music, look at the odd cars and signs, and talk to my best friend about anything and everything. Our four day vacation to the great north was filled with many memories... Going to friend's homes for dinner, meeting family members for the first time, attending my home church on Sunday... such a busy time! One thing that really stood out to me was how excited Leslie was about meeting all of my family and friends. She always showed such enthusiasm is everything that we did, which showed me that she not only accepted who I was personally, but she also accepted the people who have made the biggest impact on my life and who I am closest to outside of her. Our return trip home was met with a rather unpleasant end as a brake line in my car was broken. Thankfully, we had just gotten off the highway and we were in a parking lot when it was discovered. God certainly protected us, and I am thankful for His protection.
Leslie's Story
I'd been waiting for this trip for a long time. Bob had met my parents, my family, my friends, but I hadn't met his! I was so excited to finally have a weekend to meet everyone that means so much to him. I'd heard about all of his friends and his friends had heard about me. We had been planning this trip for a little while and I would often tell him how I just couldn't wait! It was an awesome weekend (although a chilly ride up to Traverse City with no heat!) and I met almost everyone that we wanted to see! The drive up and back was about three and a half to four hours and we had a lot of time to talk, joke, have fun, and recap after a PACKED trip. The end of the trip was a little rough because we experienced some car troubles upon arriving in Plymouth. However, God's hand in protecting us was so clear and we are so thankful that Bob's brakes held up until we could pull safely into an empty parking lot.
